美國紐約當地時間12日，世貿中心（World Trade Center）1號大樓完工啟用，舉行為期2天的慶祝典禮，並且正式成為全美國最高的建築，打破原先由芝加哥威利斯大廈（Willis Tower）保持的紀錄。2001年9月11日，世界貿易中心大廈在恐怖攻擊事件中崩塌，後由美國席維爾斯坦地產公司（Silverstein Properties）出資16.7億美元重建大樓。

重建的新世貿中心建物中，最高的即是原稱「自由塔」的世貿中心1號大樓，總高度1776英尺（541.3公尺），尖頂就有124公尺高，如果去掉尖頂，這棟樓只有417公尺高，比442公尺高的威利斯大廈矮，不過，由國際建築師組成的最高建築委員會認定，應將尖頂部分計入。
